Lancia to cancel top-of-the-line Thesis this year?

Lancia ThesisYou’d be forgiven for not knowing much about the Lancia Thesis. Or perhaps mistaking it for something like a SsangYong. The range-topping luxosedan from Fiat’s quirky cousin was never sold in North America, and even in the European market has remained something of an anomaly. We had a chance to ride in one on the way to the airport after driving the Alfa MiTo in Italy and were generally impressed, but with its homely, oddball styling and less-reputed badge, it never really stood a chance against class-leaders like the Mercedes E-Class, BMW 5 Series or Audi A6. Now, after less than seven years on the market, Fiat is reportedly set to pull the plug.

Lancia at the Paris motor show

Lancia DeltaAt the Paris Motor Show 2006, CAR Online witnessed the covers come off the concept that was to pre-empt Lancia’s C-segment superstar. Today the Lancia Delta takes pride of place on the Lancia stand, flanked by the rest of the range: Ypsilon and Musa.

Lancia Ypsilon VERSUS to make Paris Show Debut

Lancia Ypsilon VERSUS

In its constant quest to forget its glorious rally past, Lanica has joined forces with Versus, a Versace Group owned brand, to create a special edition version of its Ypsilon supermini that will be produced from March 2009 in a limited edition series of just 500 units. The Paris Show car features a special ‘Bronzino’ bronze exterior paintwork that that bears a screen-printed ‘Versus’ logo on the roof. Other unique features of the exterior are the bronze-colored 16-inch alloy wheels and the bronze finish on the grille, handles and mouldings on the doors and rear bumpers and tailgate handle.
