After many teaser shots and leaked images, Lamborghini finally took the wraps off its new Sesto Elemento conceptual supercar during the Volkswagen Group’s pre-show event in Paris. We’ll have more photos of the car from Lamborghini’s Paris Show stand tomorrow, but for now, hit the jump to check out the first batch of real-life pictures from the unveiling.
As a reminder, the Sesto Elemento is a Gallardo-sized concept boasting an extremely lightweight construction thanks to advanced carbon-fiber technology. It tips the scales at just 999 kg (2,202 lb) and is powered by the same 570-horsepower V10 engine found in the Gallardo Superleggera.
Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini said: “The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento shows how the future of the super sports car can look – extreme lightweight engineering, combined with extreme performance results in extreme driving fun. We put all of our technological competence into one stunning form to create the Sesto Elemento.
“It is our abilities in carbon-fiber technology that have facilitated such a forward-thinking concept, and we of course also benefit from the undisputed lightweight expertise of AUDI AG. Systematic lightweight engineering is crucial for future super sports cars: for the most dynamic performance, as well as for low emissions. We will apply this technological advantage right across our model range. Every future Lamborghini will be touched by the spirit of the Sesto Elemento.”

Following the introduction of Abarth-tuned versions of both the Fiat 500C and Punto Evo at the Geneva Motor Show, the Scorpion brand is preparing to roll into Paris with even hotter versions of both.
Carrying the EsseEsse moniker, both models get a substantial boost in output and a variety of upgrades to match. In the case of the 500C – the semi-convertible version of the popular retro hatch – we’re looking at 160 horsepower (up from 138 in the “base” Abarth 500C) for a 7.6-second sprint to 62 mph. The Abarth Punto Evo EsseEsse, by comparison, is tuned to 180 horsepower, resulting in a run of 7.5 seconds.
Both feature an array of upgrades to the suspension, brakes, rolling stock and more, plus Blue&Me connectivity and Record Monza exhaust (for the 500C) and Sabelt racing buckets (for the Punto). Full details can be found in the press release after the jump, but we’ll have more for you from Versailles at the end of the month.

Even the Lamborghini Gallardo Valentino Balboni Edition special can’t escape from the hands of tuners. Anderson Germany -no need to tell you where they’re based, a tuning shop that specializes on high-end sports cars and saloons, has introduced a selected package of goodies for the rear-wheel drive Lambo that’s named after the Italian firm’s most famous test driver.
The tuning company starts from the V10 engine bringing output from 550HP to 590HP. Anderson Germany did not say how it achieves the power boost. A new exhaust system with remote-controlled butterfly valves that allow the sound levels to be adjusted and new 20-inch alloy wheels shod in performance tires size 235/30 R20 at the front and 305/25 R20 at the back, round off the performance and exterior upgrades.
Most work has gone inside where the German tuner has re-trimmed the seats, door panels and steering wheel with new leather and added unique floor mats. The company said it can further personalize the interior as well as the exterior upon customer request.

When you think of Italian cars, some of the images that come to mind might be of graceful cabrios gliding along picturesque coastlines. Thing is, short of exotica from Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini or Pagani, the only Italian convertibles currently on offer are the Alfa Spider and Fiat 500C. As gorgeous as it is, the Alfa is on its way out, leaving the Fiat to fend for itself in the meantime. Romeo Ferraris apparently thought the sprightly 500C could use a little jazzing up, so it’s released this limited-edition special.
The 500C Sardinia, as it’s called, will be limited to just 50 examples. Paying homage to Italy’s Emerald Coast, it’s decked out in green paint with gold accents and sand-colored cloth roof. The interior is likewise trimmed in the light beige, the leather covers everything short of the dashboard, which gains an innovative cork treatment, and the emerald green floormats to match the exterior. Unfortunately, unlike some of Romeo Ferraris’ more extreme performance conversions, the Sardinia’s are largely limited to a dual-tip exhaust and 16-inch split-spoke alloys. Have a closer look in the gallery below.

Nowadays, there are two types of people in the motoring world, those that want their dream car, and those people who just want a vehicle for the mobility factor, for the freedom it entails, and for convenience. For the second band of individuals, it’s probably now much more sensible to buy a second-hand motor then it is to buy a brand new one, and this is for several reasons. Firstly, not everybody can afford a brand new sports car, or even a brand new car for that matter – sometimes, the best option is to buy used, but buying a vehicle that’s already been owned doesn’t have to be the ‘risk’ that it’s made out to be. In fact, it can be as legit and correct as buying a new one, as long as you ask the right questions, and conduct matters professionally.
Once at the viewing, the pressure is off, unlike in a showroom! Often car-dealers can be pushy, and because they work on commission they want to see a deal done as quick as possible. However, when dealing with private sellers, there’s no need to feel intimidated, as if you don’t like the vehicle on offer, you can simply plump for another one – you’re sure to find a great deal eventually. So, just reverting back, the clear advantage of buying a second hand car is the affordability factor i.e. it enables you to buy a better car that is within your budget and you are not required to pay any additional amounts, once the cash has been handed over, the deal is done.
Now that you’re ready to hit the road, you should consider which dealer can get you the best offer on insurance. Carole Nash can help, just visit their website at http://www.carolenash.com.
